Sequoyah Nuclear Plant

In-depth radiological emergency plans have been prepared by TVA, the State of Tennessee and Hamilton County  Emergency Management Agency. These plans are in place to protect your health and safety. Each year, TVA distributes a calendar to residents within a 10-mile radius of the plant to give detailed information and instructions as to what action to take in the event of an emergency. Click HERE to see the current calendar.

Every two years, TVA, Dept. of Homeland Security/FEMA, TEMA and Hamilton County Emergency Services host a full scale exercise with numerous participating agencies to test the Sequoyah Nuclear Emergency Plan. The overall objective of the exercises is to assess the level of State and local preparedness in responding to a radiological emergency at Sequoyah. These exercises simulate real-world scenarios and are designed to test the plan and provide input and feedback from the observers and participants to make adjustments and improvements to enhance community safety.
